Clovio known as the author of the sumptuous illuminated Hour book, commissioned by Alessandro Farnese, could embody the main artistic principles characteristic of Italian painting of the Late Renaissance. The enthusiasm of Vasari, nicknamed him «small and new Michelangelo», is not accidental. Adopting the style of the image, leading Italian painter, miniaturist Clovis, finely translated it into the language of illustration, adapting the basic principles and ideas of the Italian art of the XVI century the traditions of medieval illuminated manuscripts.
