The focus of the study was on the film “Volga-Volga” by Andrei Silvestrov and Pavel Labazov (2006), a remake of the famous comedy film by Grigory Alexandrov. The author considered the work as one of the most striking examples of the deconstruction method, not only in Russian but also in the world art. The author analyzed the contemporary version of “Volga-Volga” from the point of view of the latest interpretations of Stalinist culture and traditions of fantastic art (from Mannerism to Surrealism). The researcher paid special attention to the romantic and avant-garde connotations of the film. The author concluded that the significance of the new version of the “Volga-Volga” film goes far beyond the framework of the national historical and art contexts.
