The article analyzes the mental model of perception of modern Russian
short story texts based on the material published in literary journal ”Novyj mir”,
provides an overview of the author’s storytelling strategies at the text structure
level, a model of reader's perception is described on the basis of the syntactic
structure analysis of E. Fetisov’s short story «Merry Executions».
