N2 - The first data on the diversity of cyanobacteria found in the littoral zone of six different lakes on the Stornes Peninsula in the Larsemann Hills oasis (East Antarctica) are presented. Examination of samples by light microscopy revealed 27 cyanobacterial morphospecies. An annotated list with detailed morphological description of the morphospecies is given. In addition, a general characteristic of the algal-bacterial communities is provided, their composition and the dominant species are determined.
