The article is devoted to the analysis of the Middle East policy of British Empire during the peace conference in Lausanne (1923). At the beginning of 1920s, an international situation developed in which the British Empire, despite the discontent of the local population and socio-economic tension, almost completely controlled the proclaimed independent Arab states. However, the unsuccessful support of the Greek speech in Asia Minor and the unacceptable conditions, which had been proclaimed in the Treaty of Sèvres, made the negotiations in Lausanne inevitable.
