The focus of the paper is on the corpus of Russian short stories of the early XX century and their narrative structure, in particular. Non-traditional narrative structure appears to be present in roughly 30% of the whole set. The paper puts forward reasons for such a high percentage, identifies alternative structures and outlines possible correlations between the non-traditional narrative structure and the short story semantics.
