Crystals of lead oxybromidc Pb704(OH)4Br2 have been synthesized with use of hydrothcrmal method. Its structure has been studied by the single-crystal structure analysis. The compound is monoclinic, CI 12, a = 5.852 (4), b = 13.452 (7), с = 19.673 (9) А, у = 90.04 (2)°, V= 1548.7 (15) A3. The structure has been solved by direct methods and refined to Ri = 0.1138 for 1847 observed unique reflections. There are.seven positions for lead atoms in the Pb704(0H)4Br2 structure. Coordination polyhcdra of Pb2+ cations arc very irregular due to stereo-chemical activity of unshared electrons of the 6s2 pair. Oxygen atoms are tetrahedrally coordinated by lead atoms, which results in formation of OPb4 oxoccntcred tetrahedra. The Pb704(OH)4Br2 crystal structure is based on [02Pb
