Since the International Association of Hydrogeologists was established, Soviet and later Russian specialists were becoming members of the Association and have been active in the USSR’s and then Russian Council, commissions and national chapters. In 1968, the USSR National Chapter was formed that existed until 1990.The Russian Chapter was set up in 1996.The Russian Chapter currently consists of 32 people and one corporate member. The new Head of the Chapter was elected in 2020. The IAH Russian Chapter has much to do both in our country and at international scale. On of the main objectives is to increase the number of IAH Russian members, primarily through corporate membership and involvement of young hydrogeologists. One more priority task is creation of a website for the Russian Chapter, which is associated with the IAH website. The Russian group plans to arrange face-to-face meetings and international conferences in Russia under the aegis of IAH.
