The publication considers the practice of standard supply in the last decade of existence of the USSR (1980s). On the basis of archival documents, it was possible to find out that at the beginning of this period in a number of regions of the country, the decisions of local authorities introduced rationing. It existed in several forms: distribution by cards (stamps), preliminary orders, exit trade, limitation of sales rates in one hand. Similarities and differences from previous period rationing principles are analyzed. Data are provided on the ratio of the population to the standard supply. It is shown that the share of advocates for the card system was higher in the province and increased as the supply crisis deepened in the late 1980s.
