.The article is devoted to the interpretation of alcoholic deviations
of early Soviet society in the visual sources of anti–religious periodicals. Based on
the materials of the magazines «Atheis» and «Atheist at the machine», the range
of problems provoked by the use and production of alcohol in the Soviet city
and village is considered. Through the study of narrative plots of visual sources,
a conclusion is drawn about the role of the church in spreading the tradition of
alcohol consumption, and what solutions to the alcohol problem exist, according
to Soviet anti–religious figures.
