The main purpose of this article was to examine the evolution of images on the subject of the feast of the Bean King painting in Flanders in the 17th century. The author relied both on foreign and Russian scientific literature. However, while the former has studied the issue in the context of the analysis of artists’ works, the latter has not had sufficient coverage of it. Therefore, in this scientific work, the author made an attempt to combine the current knowledge about the plot of the feast of the Bean King. The researcher showed the process of its development in the painting tradition of Flanders of the 17th century. The author distinguished the chronological framework of the tradition, detecting the moment of its origin and decline. The earliest images belong to the last quarter of the 16th century, and the latest date back to the 18th century.
