In this paper, on the basis of open and published data, one of the many factors in the preparation of the Wehrmacht for an attack on the USSR is considered, namely, the peculiarity of preparing its anti-armor defense system for confrontation with Soviet armored units. The main conclusion of the work is that the aggressor's bet on saturating the ranks of his army units with various anti-tank systems led to the fact that in 1941 Soviet armor crews, despite their dedication and heroism, were unable to inflict irreparable damage on the enemy and stop his advance deep into Soviet territory.
