Two concepts of poetic inspiration are argued in this paper. The first one, proposed by Lu Ji (陸機 261—303), takes personal spiritual conditions and emotions for the key source of inspiration along with demanding its activating by self-concentration with a help of “cutting-off” visual and audial perception of the outer world. According to the second concept, connected with Wang Xizhi (王羲之 303/321—361/379), the poetic inspiration is caused, on the contrary, by one’s experience of the surrounding reality, primarily of landscapes as major manifestations of nature greatness and beauty.
