The article discusses the initial stage of negotiations between the USSR and the USA on providing the Soviet side with a post-war credit and on cooperation on a number of international trade, economic and financial issues. The paper is based on documents deposited in the Russian State Archive of Economics and the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation. Access to some of these documents is still restricted, therefore they have not yet been well known to researchers both in Russia and abroad.
