This article discusses the functioning of the healthcare system during the Leningrad Siege. Difficult living conditions, isolation of Leningrad from the control centers forced the local leadership to act independently in relation to the emerging issues of supply, medical care and defense of the city. In this regard, the management of the Leningrad Department of health has taken a number of measures to reorganize the system of medical care. It is this circumstance, that prompts us to approach this question in detail in the future. The article also highlights the prospect of studying individual subjects using documents concentrated in the archives of St. Petersburg.
