We have analyzed several abandoned sand quarries in the area of Yakutsk (Siberia, Russia). The analysis included assessment of fungi, bacteria and archaea (real-Time PCR), agrochemical soil analysis, and 16s rDNA (MiSEQ) sequences. In general the analyzed quarries showed a low level of diversity and a relatively low number of microbionts typical for the Northern disturbed soils. In a number of quarries active microbiological processes were noted, relatively high ecological indices of diversity were shown. On the contrary there are extreme bacterial communities, extremely low number of microorganisms in other quarries.
