The article attempts to cover the unexplored topic of attribution of a medical instrument based on archival and library sources. The author offers a review of developments in the field of attribution of a medical instrument, issued at the St. Petersburg Instrument Plant until the second half of the 19th century. An original system of attribution of a medical instrument for funds of medical museums of various levels is also proposed.
