The article is dedicated to the participation of the European left forces in the elections to the European Parliament in 2019. The purpose of the research is to analyze and compare election manifestos and platforms of the main trends of the left spectrum of contemporary Europe, to identify the general features in their approaches to European integration. The author focuses on analyzing the proposals of the Party of European Socialists, the European Green Party and the Party of European Left. The article also considers the approaches of the left-wing populists and the left-wing separatist (regionalist) parties. It is mainly based on an analysis of the political sources of the European left-wing parties. The author concludes that all left and center-left political parties of the EU in the social, economic and institutional-political areas are suggesting to modify European construction in order to make the EU more socially-oriented and democratic. At the same time, in the European left movement, it is foreseen a fundamental and significant split between those who are in favor of deepening the integration processes (social democrats, “green”, European Free Alliance, etc.) and critics of today's Europe (European leftists, communists, left-wing populists), who are opponents of “European federalism.” However, the example of the functioning of the Progressive Caucus in the European Parliament shows that political cooperation between various leftists across the EU is possible. The author also presents the results of the European Parliament elections for the leading left-wing political families in present-day Europe
