Budi Utomo became the first political organization in colonial Indonesia at the beginning of the XX century . Although its participants did not put forward any clear political demands, but focused on educational activities, the very creation of a political organization spoke of strong socio-political processes in Indonesian colonial society, which soon resulted in the creation of the first mass political parties of a modern type.
