The tendency of the feminization of spontaneous associations, the dissemination of many stereotypes and prejudices that existed in the public mind towards women, in the first Western European theories of the crowd was clearly manifested. Initially, the researchers characterized only women in the crowd, but later, largely influenced by the ideas of G. Le Bon, they began to ascribe to the crowd the “female” characteristics (the variability of mood, impulsiveness of behavior, excessive feelings, pliability to suggestion, inability to reason, et al.). This tendency was not typical for the Russian researchers of the crowd of that time and was not long. However, the presence of this tendency is unquestionable. Specificity of its formation in the late XIX-early XX centuries is described.
