The article discusses the missionary policy of the Church of England among theNestorian Christians in Eastern Turkey at the end of the XIX century. In contrast tothe Catholics, Anglicans not sought to connect the local population to theirs Church.Quite altruistic, with Anglican Church point of view, their activities politically wereintended in strengthening the position in the UK in the regions lying on the way toits holdings in India. Especially this tendency manifested itself in the event of op-position of the British diplomats and missionaries of the Russian Orthodox Church.The investigation is based on the National archives of the United Kingdom.
