The article examines the problem of reforming local government and the county police, which was central to the activities of the “Committee on December 6, 1826”. The analysis of little-known projects and notes, which form part of the Committee's materials, allows us, to some extent, to reconstruct the position of representatives of the local administration and the nobility on the issue of police reform. The projects under consideration are united by the general conclusion: it was possible to significantly improve police activity only through the reorganization of the local government system. However, in the ways to achieve this project the authors were far from unity. The article traces the relationship of projects with similar projects prepared before the formation of the Committee and during its functioning.
