This study focuses on the potential consequences of the adoption and implementation of the provisions of EU countries' “Green deal” for relations between Russia and the EU in the energy sector, in particular, for the transit of natural gas. The author puts forward a hypothesis that potential structural changes in energy production of the EU countries could help them to meet the growing demand for energy consumption and avoid dependence on gas imports from Russia. To achieve the goals set by the “Green deal”, Russia could offer EU new areas of energy cooperation, among which are the supply of decarbonated natural gas, the construction of new infrastructure for the storage and transportation of synthesized gas, the export of synthesized gas to other regions via the existing infrastructure, etc. Providing EU with support in an ambitious energy program will create an important platform for building partnerships and overcoming contradictions in other areas, as well as positively affect the international image of R
