Our object of regard here are some speech discursive items that are framed by reflective constructions как говорится and что называется, and so make for idiomatic or phraseologic features. «One Speaker's Day» subcorpus material was analyzed; as a result we have got a selection of non-trivial speech items that are marked as mentioned above. These items are extremely interesting for further analysis. Along with them, some contexts were found where these constructions are not used in their typical meanings and become more discursive ones (means asemantic and more of hesitation fillers). Generally, our analysis shows that usage of как говорится/что называется can be a marker of the speaker's speech competence.
