The study is dedicated to the book of the eminent figure of the national school education of the late XIX century, Dmitry Pavlovich Martynov “Russian history in the simplest stories with the collection of historical poems” (1894). This work was written in order to spread among the students of public schools the views of loyalty and orthodoxy, to inculcate “the love to faith, tsar and fatherland” in them. The authors demonstrate that in the book the historical past of Russia is shown extremely biased. Thus, this book is the vivid example of the possibility to devalue and marginalize the political motto by spreading it in the pseudo-science literature. It seems that such a negative experience should be taken into account while the educational strategies are building in the field of the course of national history in our days too.
