The paper presents the results of the functional-communicative analysis of linguistic representation of medical information in texts written for the general public. The paper focuses on the main linguistic features of information booklets: combinations of terms and words of everyday language, linguistic means used to explain terms, abundance of deictic and modal words. The analysis specifically considers the role of the recipient in communication mediated by a medical information booklet.
