This article is dedicated to the consecration of the role of the International Scientific Conference "The Arctic: History and Modernity" and its opportunities for realizing its potential for an international student. In 2016 more than 246 scientists and specialists from various regions of the Russian Federation, as well as from France, Norway, Sweden and China participated in the conference. In 2017, 279 specialists, mostly representatives of fundamental and applied science from St. Petersburg and Moscow, from various regions of Russia, as well as scientists and specialists from France, Norway, Italy, and China attended. In 2018, 257 participants from Russia, France, Norway, Finland, the USA and India arrived at the conference. The conference annually attracts the attention of diplomats of the Arctic Council member countries and observer countries. During the three years of its existence, Consul General of Norway, Finland, France and Poland took part in the conference in St. Petersburg. It should be noted that the most important principle laid in the basis of the conference is the formation of continuity between already professional scientists and youth. Traditionally, within the framework of the conference, sessions of the socalled "Youth Section" are held, within the framework of which students, graduate students (and in the past - young professionals not denounced by scientific degrees and titles) could present their research and development to the widest range of specialists, experts, and also, including potential employers.
