The article is devoted to the problem of the relationship between the political theory of Niccolo Machiavelli and his diplomatic practice. Addressing this issue is connected with the need to deconstruct the of Machiavelli - a political theorist as a “disillusioned Republican”, which is one of the components of the widespread idea of so-called “Machiavellianism” and is associated with his perception of the Republican prospects of the Florentine state. Analyzing the political theory of Machiavelli, the author comes to the conclusion that there are no pronounced signs of the manifestation of counter-Republican views and the accentuation of the Machiavellian diplomatic experience itself.
