The article reveals the main theses voiced in the framework of the first workshop of representatives of the countries-participants of the Commonwealth of Independent States (hereinafter - the CIS) on the preparation of a model law on public health. Materials and methods. The methodological basis of the article is the dialectical method, which provides for the analysis of social phenomena and their reflection in domestic and foreign legislation. Purpose of research. To substantiate the need to create a model law that will form a single legal basis in the CIS member States for the development of public health. Results and discussions. During the first workshop of the CIS member States, it was established that the model law will complement the existing legislation of the partner countries with a common framework in the field of public health. Conclusion. The adoption of the model law on public health is due to the need to organize interdepartmental interaction in order to actively, purposefully, controlled influence on the factors and determinants that shape public health.
