Gravimeters and seismometers react to the change of air mass them by virtue of Newton’s law of universal gravitation, and thus show the atmospheric forcing on gravity. Seismologists have long learned to exclude the influence of synoptic processes from the records of these instruments, using the colocated simultaneous measurements of atmospheric surface pressure ps. By comparing the frequency spectra of the records of barometers and superconducting gravimeters (SG) lasting over a year, the influence of the harmonics of the solar thermal tide Sm, where m is the harmonic number, on the free fall acceleration g has also been established. This study is the first attempt to understand how gravimetric measurements can be used as an additional method for studying atmospheric waves in the period range from ~ 10 min to ~ 10 h. In addition to Sm harmonics, the internal gravitational waves (IGW) of the atmosphere also fall into this period range.
