The article discusses the problems faced by the Muslim population of Iceland trying to realize their basic rights and needs such as the exercise of religious worship. Despite the fact that the Muslim community of Iceland is quite small, its presence is a serious irritant for the domestic political area of Iceland, as it is clearly demonstrated by the long history of the attempt to build the great mosque of Reykjavik. Today in Iceland, the Muslim population is criticized more than in any other European country - this criticism is based mainly on prejudice and is only intensified because of the ongoing terrorist attacks in the world carried out by Islamist groups. The study contains disappointing conclusions that Icelandic society largely seeks to isolate itself from Muslims and fears that their presence can affect the cultural, economic, political life, as well as the socio-cultural transformation of space in the country. This generates a lot of discussions about the role of Muslims in the Nordic countries.
