N2 - Social-economic reforms in Russia in the last 20 years have led to cardinal changes in land relations. Since October 2001, the government passed the Land code of the Russian Federation and fundamental Federal Laws, containing legal norms to regulate land relations in the new conditions. All this required highlyskilled specialists with higher professional education in the field of Land relations and Cadastres. The main task of the educational process in the area of «Land Use Planning and Cadastres» is preparation of bachelors, and in the near future - the masters and post-graduate students. Saint Petersburg State University is the classical University in Russia, implementing the training of bachelors in the sphere of «Land Use Planning and Cadastres». This fact gives advantages in terms of realization of this training, and, thus, imposes responsibility on the staff of the research-pedagogical associates of the land use planning and cadastres to achieve professional jurisdictions of the graduates. Land Use Planning and Cadastre are the essence of the control functions in the area of Land management, and training of relevant specialists (in that case bachelors) have to be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the modern Land Policy and the graduates have to know contemporary problems of land resources management. This means the development and deepening of the «Geographic» and «Management» aspects of student's preparation. The article identifi es the tasks related to improvement of educational process and organization of research work in the sphere of «Land Use Planning and Cadastre» (Bachelor Degree, Master Degree, post-graduate studies). The prospects of development in this sphere at the Chair of the land use planning and cadastres, Saint Petersburg State University are revealed.
