Very little has been written about revolutionary Smilga in Finland. However, his role in Finland was very significant. From September 1917 he was the Chairman of the Regional Committee of the Soviet of Army, Navy and Workers of Finland. Smilga actively participated in the organization of the October Revolution in Petrograd and he had a close relationship with V. I. Lenin. In 1917-1918, he was also one of the main organizers of the Russian revolutionary movement in Finland. From December 4 (November 21), 1917, I. T. Smilga was the Representative of Soviet Russia in Finland. In January 1918 he took part in the preparation of the Revolution in this country. However, for Smilga, the Victory of the Revolution in Finland was not the main task of his political activities
