Версальский договор 1919 г., кроме всего прочего, содержал достаточно большой раздел, в котором были зафиксированы накладываемые на Германию ограничения в военной сфере. Ч етыре вида вооружения были запрещены полностью: танки, химическое оружие, военная авиация и подводные лодки. В статье рассмотрены причины принятия державамипобедительницами такого решения, а также прослежена связь между наложенным запретом и развитием вооружений.

Of the many provisions in the treaty of Versailles of 1919 quite an extensive part considered the restrictions imposed on the German military force. Four types of weapons were completely prohibited: tanks, chemical weapons, military aircrafts and submarines. The main purpose of this article is to study the causes underlying the Allied powers decision concerning German military program and to highlight the connection between the imposed arms ban and the progress in the western weapons technologies.
