This article examines how telecommuting and hybrid work formats are affecting the employment of young professionals. The COVID-19 pandemic has only provided a powerful boost to the trends that existed before it. Particularly influential was the spread of information and communications technology, allowing people to connect across vast distances, as well as changing attitudes within organizations towards human capital, which has become a factor in company development. In the new reality, organizations are willing to accommodate employee format preferences if it has a positive impact on business performance and increases loyalty to the company. Hybrid and remote working formats are becoming a competitive advantage for companies in the fight for talent, including talented young specialists. The article analyzed the positive and negative aspects of workplace transformation for the initial stage of career building. The particularities of employing young professionals are the frequent combining of work or internships with studies, as well as little experience and few professional connections. Some negative qualities of hybrid and distance working formats are related to the fact that young professionals are in a rather disadvantaged position compared to experienced colleagues, which leads to greater risks of worklife imbalance, as well as to a longer job search period due to increased competition among candidates in the labour market. Considering the specifics of the new work formats and their impact on young employees, recommendations for employers to ensure that young professionals work effectively in the new formats have been formulated.
