In constructing equations of motion for nonholonomic systems both the Poincare-Chetaev-Rumyantsev approach and that based on a concept of the tangent space are used. This makes it possible to consider the first approach from a new point of view. The connection with the approach to the problems of nonholonomic mechanics due to J. Papastavridis is established.
