Mean rates of the steric sea-level oscillations are estimated for the 500 meter water column in the Japan and Okhotsk seas from many years monthly data of water temperatures and salinities. Maps of spatial distribution of the obtained estimates of the sea-level raise (or fall) rate are drawn and analyzed. Regional patterns of the annual sea-level change are classified. Forecast equations are derived to connect the sea-level change rates and the sea surface temperatures.
Translated title of the contribution | A case study for assessing the steric sea-level oscillation rate and the possibility of forecasting it in the Western Pacific seas. |
