The present article is dedicated to the memory of an outstanding scholar, well-known in Russia, Romania, the Republic of Moldova and other countries - Romance Philologist, the Founder of the Scientific School of Language Engineering, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Philology, Professor Raymund Piotrowski. Raymund Piotrowski’s research covers a vast range of topics with a focus on different aspects of the functioning of the Romanian language. His works and ideas are of great value for those who study and research Romance languages and for everyone interested in mechanisms of language and speech development. Such issues as linguistic politics in the Republic of Moldova and the complicated entanglement of historic and linguistic processes that the scholar outlined and researched more than 20 years ago are still relevant today. The article offers an overview of Raymund Piotrowski’s works on the Romanian language, his interviews, and publications about his research.
