The article discusses changes in plant communities in the north-west of the Caspian lowland in the places of annual registration of saigas. The data on the course of temperatures and precipitation in the border areas for the period from 2015 to 2021 are analyzed. The total projective cover and the average bioproductivity of terrestrial phytomass in key areas were determined. The reasons for the mass arrival of saigas from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been established.
