N2 - The “world within itself” of the Eurasian Union in the east is adjacent to the influential Asia-Pacific Region (APR). Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) plays a central role in the region. Rapprochement between the Customs Union and ASEAN will help to strengthen the status of these two large spaces in both world politics and world economy. The author argues that a positive example of the cooperation is the creation of a Free Trade Area between the members of the CU and the countries of ASEAN.
