We examined and evaluated various risk factors
for osteoporosis in 97 women with primary biliary cholangitis.
Osteoporosis and osteopenia were detected in 48,9% and 30,0%
respectively. The high risks of major fractures of FRAX were more
common in primary biliary cholangitis compared with control
(42,9% vs 3,9%, p < 0,05) and T-test of L1–L4 was negatively
associated with risk of major fractures (r = -0,27, p < 0,02) and
risk of femoral fracture FRAX (r = -0,23, p < 0,05), and T-criterion
of neck – with risk of femoral fracture FRAX (r = -0,32, p < 0,007).
The age and duration of menopause were independent predictors
of development of osteoporosis in primary biliary cholangitis.
Fractures in postmenopause are associated with a low protein
content in food.
