The study of the frequency of cognitive impairment in elderly and senile patients who underwent extensive orthopedic surgery depending on the method of postoperative analgesia was made. The influence of epidural analgesia with ropivacaine and narcotic analgesics on the course of the nearest postoperative period and the frequency of development of psychotic episodes was researched.
