The article contains a description and a brief analysis of the implementation of professional standards and qualification requirements in the field of physical culture and sports. The prerequisites for the creation of professional standards, expectations from activities aimed at the interaction of employers and educational institutions are considered. Examples of qualification requirements of some professions in the field of physical culture and sports, the role of professional standards for additional vocational education are given: advanced training and professional retraining; the aspects of “double career” and some results of the work of organizations on the implementation of professional standards in the Russian Federation are considered.
