Objective of the study was to develop the theory and methodology of rowing under the influence of the Scientific-Theoretical Journal "Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury". Structure of the study. The author notes that the first teaching aid for rowing in Russian was published in 1861. In 1925, they issued a study guide entitled "Rowing", which became a methodological pre-textbook. In the 1950s, there appeared theoretical materials predetermining the production of the first-generation textbook on the theory and methodology of rowing in 1966. Further publications of the textbook (1976, 1987) correlated with the new scientific facts, which were covered on the pages of the Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury Journal. The last (2006) textbook, to some extent, reflected the stagnation processes in the Russian science of sport. Results. The author conducts a statistical survey of the trends in the number of publications devoted to the problems of rowing. In particular, it is noted that the research vector has shifted from the targeted study of the rowing technique towards the athletic training system in this kind of sport. Conclusion. The author states that, in recent years, there have been rare publications about rowing in the Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury Journal. Nevertheless, the author emphasizes the significant role of the Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury Journal in the development of the theory and methodology of rowing.
