Future time perspective (FTP), locus of control (LC) and self-esteem (SE) are three psychological measures that play role in self-regulation. Separately influence of these characteristics on the rehabilitation process of drug-addicted is studied a lot. In this study, we focus on contents of motivation during rehabilitation process, the role of these characteristics in motivation and on the correlations between the three measures listed above. There were two group of participants: 28 opioid users in less than 6 months remission and 27 participants without any diagnosed addiction. Results showed that drug-addicted group compared to people with no addiction has a lower average of self-esteem and shortened time perspective. Opiate addicted are much more oriented to Hedonism Present, Fatalism Future and Negative Past in FTP, and at the same time have equal to control group measures of Future orientation of FTP. There were also found correlation between FTP and LC and between FTP and SE. Addicted people with internal LC are orientated to the Future more than people with external LC. High level of ideal self-esteem correlates with marked Hedonism Present and Positive Past. This study could contribute to developing of prevention and rehabilitation program for opiate-addicted people.
