The currents fields for the northwestern part of the Pacific were calculated from the altimetric data of the ocean level, obtained by a Topex-Poseidon satellite. The computations were carried out using a quasigeostrophic model for barotropic ocean. The fields were compared with in-situ data obtained in the course of the experiment "Megapoligon". It was shown that alimetric surveys of the ocean level could form the basis for the estimations of perturbations in the field of ocean currents.
