The paper presents the results of studying the chemical contamination of soils in three oil and gas condensate
fields of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District. The analysis for the content of heavy metals, biogenic compounds, chlorides, sulfates and petroleum hydrocarbons was performed. Biological testing of these samples was carried out using test objects Daphia magna и Chlorella vulgaris. A high degree of results convergence between test objects was established,
which showed the presence of samples with different degrees of toxic effect. Harmonization of the biological testing
results and chemical analysis have given a reliable correlation between toxicity and soil content of Hg, Cd, mobile forms
of Cu, nitrates, chlorides and phosphates. The results of the study of soil toxicity have shown that salinization of soils
when discharging produced water and removal of readily soluble chlorides from settling tanks is most harmful for tundra
and forest tundra landscapes characterized by low rates of lateral and vertical migration of matter.
