N2 - The article examines the transformation of Finland’s security policy in the Baltic region under the crisis of the contemporary European security system. The author analyzes the evolution of Finland’s foreign policy course, and the consequences of its accession to NATO for the political-military balance in Northern Europe, the changes in the regional security architecture following the end of the Cold War. Particular attention is paid to the growing militarization of the Baltic region, the intensification of the confrontation between Russia and the West as well as the expansion of hybrid threats related to energy, cyber, and maritime security. The study concludes that Finland’s integration into the Euro-Atlantic security system contributes to the formation of a unified Northern European strategic space while simultaneously strengthening both NATO’s defense potential and the level of political-military tensions in the Baltic region.
