Статья посвящена картине «Аллегория Живописи» («Живописец в мастерской») голландского художника XVII в. Яна Вермеера. Автор исследует проблему иконографии этого и других произведений Вермеера. Исследуются стили- стические тенденции Делфтской живописи, анализируются работы Вермеера и его современников. Делается вывод о связях между сюжетами картин и аллегорией в живописи XVII столетия.

The article is devoted to the picture "Allegory of Painting" ("The atelier of artist") by the 17^th century Dutch artist Jan Vermeer. The author focuses on the problem of the iconography of this and other pictures by Vermeer. Stylistic tendencies of Delft painting are considered and works by Vermeer and his contemporaries are studied. The author draws a conclusion about connections between subject of the picture and allegories in the painting of the 17^th century.
