The article studies the peculiarities of the professional’s language personality as the reflection of the Russian linguistic view of the world in scientific and private discourse. Illustrative material was extracted from D. Granin’s novel “The Bison”. The novel contains documental quotations of speech of the outstanding Russian biologist N.V. Timofeev-Resovsky. The analysis of the components of the scientist’s language personality traced on the different structural levels is provided on the base of the language personality conception formulated by Y.N. Karaulov. The study describes the set of linguistic means used in the material and determines pragmatic goals of their usage. The peculiarities of the scientist’s language personality which characterize him as a representative of a certain social and professional group are marked in the paper. The results of the research can be applied to theoretical studies and to the professional training of the specialists who contact people and while working and who are connected to the language and research activities.
